The Hydrocore™ timer operated valve opens or closes the water and compressed air lines to mine workings, on a predetermined weekly timing schedule. The valve can be actuated by the line-fluid pressure or alternatively by compressed air, hydraulically or electrically.
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
The control system consists of two timer switches, operating as follows:
START - Within Normal Shift
Pressing the START button causes both valves to open from this moment to the end of the shift as programmed by timer T1.
START - Out of Normal Shift
Pressing the START button causes both valves to open from this moment to a fixed duration as pre-programmed by timer T2.
STOP - At any time
Pressing the STOP button causes both valves to close at any time.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
The implementation of the timer activated valves has a three month payback period when applied as air/water isolating valves at mine workings in the gold and platinum mining industries.
PREVENTING MUD RUSH
Automatic isolation of the water lines in the workings prevents the occurrence of mud rush in the ore-passes, which is typical to pipe bursts during blast shifts or off-mining shifts.
No gearbox is required to assist in the valve's opening and closing for The Hydrocore™
timer operated valve. The valve is
hydro-statically balanced and requires very low operating forces.
The Hydrocore™ timer operated valve is simple and reliable with a robust construction. Very little maintenance is required, it can be undertaken by semi-skilled personnel and with a short downtime period.
