New Generation Design
Valves
Valves
are a crucial part of the piping technology and are mainly used for isolating, control and safety applications in the fluid transfer field. For the past 15 years, the Hydrocore Valve Series has been developed, designed
and patented and has been successfully implemented in various mines in
South Africa
.
The
Hydrocore Valve Series is a
new and entirely unique concept in the valve
industry, which facilitates the automatic control and safety functions for
fluid transfer system without any
pilots, instruments, controllers, power supply or computers. Indeed, it can
be described as extraordinary as it offers high-tech applications without the
associated conventional high-tech technology and personnel.
Applications
The
Hydrocore range of isolating, safety and control valves provides a simple, efficient, reliable and low-cost
maintenance solution for most of fluid control applications, such as:-
- Manually operated shutoff valves
- Automatic actuated shutoff valve
- Pressure, flow and level control valves
- Pressure relief, pressure sustaining and excess flow shutdown
valves
- Pump discharge control valves
- Plant flow control applications
- Timer-activated isolating valves.
Uniqueness of the Hydrocore
Valves
The
Hydrocore Valve Series meets the global
need for simple automation of existing plants and pipeline systems. The
series also offers the following benefits:
- Reduces the number of plant operators
- Minimises the need for high-tech skilled personnel
- Reduces the sophistication level of the plant control
- Prevents damage to plant, pipeline & equipment
through human error or negligence, thus saving on repair costs and production
costs
- Reduces the capital cost for new plants.
Hydrocore Valves – Main
Features
The
Hydrocore Valve Series has many
advantages, the most important of which are listed below:
- The Hydrocore valves do not
require an external actuator, as the valve’s piston is a simple and powerful
pneumatic/hydraulic actuator
- Handwheel and electrically actuated valves do not require the
torque assistance of a gearbox
- The valve’s piston serves as the control pilot for all of the
line-actuated safety and control valves with less vulnerability to
precipitation or the build-up of corrosion products
- All of the safety and control valves can be used as a conventional
or I/P actuated control valves by utilising conventional transmitters, switches
and controllers
- All of the self-powered safety and control valves are not accessible to unauthorised tampering
- The sealing arrangement of the valves is of the pressure-assisted
type, inducing low magnitude of parasite friction forces
- All of the valves are maintainable while in-line
- No other parts of the valve are inserted into the valve body
except for the valve piston, which serves as a carrier to all of the seals and
the valve seat
- Most of the Hydrocore valve parts are interchangeable between the various
applications, irrespective of the pressure rating.
